Go and Tell the Good News

Opening Scripture

Text: Mark 16:15 (ESV) — “And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.’”

Good Morning!

The gospel was never meant to be kept hidden. Jesus did not save us just so we could sit quietly on the sidelines of life. He saved us to send us out. The command to “go and tell” is not just for preachers, missionaries, or evangelists—it is for every follower of Christ. Wherever we are—at work, at home, in the marketplace—we are called to share the Word of God with anyone willing to listen.

The Great Commission is for Every Believer

Matthew 28:19–20 (ESV):
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

  • Jesus’ last words before ascending were not optional—they were a command.
  • The early church took this to heart. Ordinary men and women carried the gospel from house to house, town to town.
  • Sharing the Word is not about being eloquent—it’s about being faithful.

Application: Ask yourself—when was the last time you told someone about Jesus?

The Power is in God’s Word, Not Ourselves

Romans 1:16 (ESV):
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”

  • Our words alone cannot save—but God’s Word can.
  • When we speak Scripture, we unleash God’s power, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12).
  • The pressure is not on us to convince people—it is on us to share faithfully, and the Holy Spirit will convict hearts.

Application: Do not let fear or feelings of inadequacy silence you. God’s Word does the work.

The Example of the Apostles

Acts 5:42 (ESV):
“And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus.”

  • The apostles were beaten, threatened, and imprisoned, yet they still preached.
  • They ministered wherever they could—publicly and privately, to crowds and to individuals.
  • They didn’t wait for perfect conditions—they preached in the midst of opposition.

Application: We may never face persecution like them, but are we willing to speak boldly even if it makes us uncomfortable?

Ministering to Anyone Willing to Listen

2 Timothy 4:2 (ESV):
“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.”

  • Sharing God’s Word isn’t just for church services—it’s for everyday conversations.
  • Not everyone will listen, but some will—and those are the ones God is calling us to minister to.
  • Sometimes ministry is simply planting seeds that God will water later (1 Corinthians 3:6).

Application: Carry the gospel into daily life. A kind word, a prayer with someone in need, a verse shared at the right time—all of it is ministry.

The Reward of Faithfulness

Daniel 12:3 (ESV):
“And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”

  • God honors those who lead others to Him.
  • Heaven rejoices over one sinner who repents (Luke 15:7).
  • When we share the Word, we are participating in the eternal work of God.

Application: Imagine someone in heaven one day thanking you because you were bold enough to share Christ with them.

Conclusion

God has called us to be His witnesses. Our job is not to argue or to force, but to proclaim and invite. Sharing the gospel is simply telling others what Christ has done for us and what He offers them. The world is hungry for truth, hope, and love—and we hold the answer in the Word of God.

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for entrusting us with Your Word. Give us boldness to proclaim the gospel in every place You send us. Help us to see opportunities to minister to those around us, and give us patience when hearts seem hard. Remind us that the power is not in us but in Your Word and Spirit. May our lives shine brightly for Jesus, and may many come to know Him through our witness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
